Prof. Francesco C. Billari

Professor Francesco C. Billari is a demographer and sociologist, who focuses on the study of life course dynamics and population change, in particular fertility and family change.

Previous research includes the analysis of life course data as event histories, sequences of states; expert-based methods in population forecasting; agent-based models of population change. Recently, he has been focusing on the role of macro-level discontinuities in shaping population change, with a particular emphasis on the effect of the Great Recession and digitalization. He as been awarded an ERC Advanced Investigator Grant on the latter topic.
